I love the idea of mug brownies… but I’ve never been satisfied with the actual bodged product. Therefore, I set out to invent The Mug Brownie to top all others. After hours of research, nearly a score of failed brownies and some severely overstuffed friends, I think I may have done it.
4 tbsp of dark chocolate
2 tbsp of butter
4 tbsp wheat flour
2 tbsp granulated white sugar
1/16 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 large egg
2 tbsp Nutella
2 chunks of peppermint choc. (I used Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares)
Drop the butter and the choc. in the mug, and warm in the microwave until melted. Add sugar, then egg, then flour, mixing throughly after the addition of each ingredient.
Push the peppermint down into the brownie mix, and drop the Nutella in between. It will melt down into the middle and form a peppermint-“lava” centre.
Microwave for roughly 45 seconds, until just barely cooked through.
